Ian Morrison is a Pacific Northwest artist and photographer. His photographs and drawings have been shown in galleries and museums across the United States. He received his Master of Arts in Studio Art from the University of South Carolina in 1995, and has taught photography, drawing, and electronic arts courses at Grand Canyon University and Glendale Community College (AZ).
Recently, Ian has put aside complex manipulations and convoluted narratives for a cleaner, simpler exploration. "I am getting back to basics, attempting to gain a fresh perspective, and to ground my work in a solid base of design and technique. The majority of my current work is stark and simple. Within the photograph, little change is made to the captured image beyond subtle adjustments to contrast and color. Singular or limited numbers of objects often reside in a range of varied, but often visually 'clean' landscapes, devoid of clutter. The viewer is invited to reflect on the simplicity of shape, color and balance within the scene, rather than becoming lost in a multitude of layers and detail."
